All this sunshine with almost none of the downside. A little warm, yes, but it cools off in the evening and last night I was able to do a fair amount of weeding. The weeds are relentless. The thing I don’t like (and there are so many, but here’s the one I’ll talk about today) is that the first day of summer is the longest day of the year. It always seems to me that the longest day of the year should be the last day of summer, that summer should build to a glorious conclusion and then gently dwindle down thereafter. There are the immutable realities of nature and the artificial constructs of man, such as the names of the seasons. Here’s what my calendar would look like.
